The population of the DR will be 8,518,483 inhabitants by year 2000, says the National Office of Statistics (ONE). The ONE says that the population of the DR has grown by one million since the last National Census in 1993. ONE estimates that there will be 2.7 million people living in the National District (Santo Domingo) by year 2,000.
