President Leonel Fernández said he will campaign in favor of Danilo Medina, the candidate for the ruling Partido de la Liberación Dominicana. He said his endorsing and actively supporting the candidacy of Medina, while in office, does not violate any law. Fernández said that President of Uruguay Julio Maria Sanguinetti campaigned for the official party candidate Jorge Batlle, and President Bill Clinton has supported the candidacy of Vice President Al Gore.
