Three companies want to collect city garbage

Garbage collection must be very profitable in the DR. Despite government payment problems, three companies are fighting to control the right to collect garbage in the city of Santo Domingo. Dixi Sanitary and Colimec are now fighting Dragados for the right to collect garbage. The Municipality of Santo Domingo recently designated Dragados, a Spanish company, as in charge of garbage collection. Dixi Sanitary and Colimec said they have signed contracts that are valid and will take the case to the courts. Dragados has promised to clean up the city in 20 days time.
