US Airways, the fifth largest airline in the world in terms of passengers boarded, announced on May 18 it has filed with the Department of Transportation to serve four new Caribbean routes, including Philadelphia-Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Service to the DR would be daily. US Airways has the most comprehensive route network throughout the eastern United States of any airline and serves most major cities in the western US from its hubs in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Charlotte, North Carolina. In addition to expanding its Caribbean service to the DR, Aruba, Mexico and the Bahamas, the airline is also increasing its arrival points in Europe this year, making this airline a new option for Dominican outbound travelers.
