The Listin Diario reports there are more than 1,100,000 million Visa cardholders in the DR. In 1999, Dominican visa cardholders carried out RD$958 million in transactions. Lorna Rossler, Visa international vice president for Latin America and the Caribbean said that Visa is the leading credit card in the Caribbean and Latin America. She said that the company expects visa sales worldwide to reach US$3 billion up from US$1.6 billion today.
