Punta Cana Resort Marina announced the holding of the IGFA Barta/Irrizary Blue Marlin Classic. This is a benefit for the Guatemala Foundation for Hearing Impaired Kids, the Fundación Punta Cana/Child of the Caribbean, the Hospital del Niño de Puerto Rico and the Junior Angler Program sponsored by the International Game and Fishing Association (IGFA). The tournament starts today in Punta Cana and runs through 28 May. Some 70 Dominican and international teams from the US, Puerto Rico, Venezuela have registered. The editors of US publications, such as Saltwater, Sportman Magazine, Big Game Fishing Journal, Marlin Magazine, Sport Fishing Magazine, Caribbean Travel and Life, Boating Magazine and eAngler are participating. Also in Punta Cana for the event is Michael Leech, considered the father of sport fishing, and the director of the RGFA, Dean Clarke.
