President-elect Hipólito Mejía visited Minister of Armed Forces Lieutenant General Manuel de Jesús Florentino at the Ministry of Armed Forces yesterday. General José Miguel Soto Jiménez accompanied him. General Soto Jiménez is said to be Mejía’s choice for Minister of the Armed Forces. Mejía said his visit was protocolar. He said that in his government the armed forces will increase its participation in vocational training, forestry, rural road repairs and housing construction programs. He had praise for the professional armed forces corps. "I think it is time that the citizenry get to know the curriculum of many of our military because there are thousands of professionals who are very qualified and what is most important is their inbred discipline."
