Police rescues kidnapped disco owner linked to drug trafficking

The National Police rescued the owner of the uptown discotheque Ritmo 60. 33-year old Carlos Herrera Dalmasí had been missing for 105 days. His kidnapping is linked to the drug trafficking business. El Siglo newspaper reports that his kidnapping was in regards to a debt of US$875,000 for the purchase of 50 kilos of cocaine. Herrera had been missing since 19 February. He said he had on him RD$175,000 when he was kidnapped. He was found in a house in San Pedro de Macorís, where 53 Diazepam pills were found. He said he was kept chained, sedated and was given soup to eat every two days. The Police says they are keeping him in custody for his own safety and further investigations.
