Senate votes favorably on creating new Ministry of Culture

The Senate unanimously passed the bill that creates the Ministry of Culture. This would separate cultural institutions from the Ministry of Education. The bill has the support of legislators of the three leading political parties. Also being discussed is the creation of a Ministry of Youth. This bill, nevertheless, is opposed by the PLD. The new ministries are especially attractive to the incoming PRD government. Since the PLD administration privatized most of the public enterprises (most that operated as mere welfare institutions for those with political connections), the PRD finds itself lacking the thousands of government jobs it needs to provide its constituency.
