Put a roof on the Estadio Jose Briceño

Former Puerto Plata senator Rafael Octavio (Kuky) Silverio Galán is promoting a project that would put a roof on the José Briceño ball park of Puerto Plata. Silverio is also vice president of the Delfines del Atlántico professional ball team. The team has not been allowed to play in the Dominican professional league because league directors say that it rains too frequently in Puerto Plata. They fear that too many games would be suspended. If a roof were put on the stadium, the team would be allowed to play by the league. The roofing of the stadium would cost RD$80 million, as per this project. If the funding can be found for the project, the Briceño Stadium would be the first covered baseball stadium in the Caribbean. The stadium then could also be used for all kinds of presentations, bringing the best of Caribbean baseball to Puerto Plata and allowing for yearlong artistic presentations.
