Businesses favor immediate economic reforms

Yesterday, the business sector advocated the approval of economic reforms as a way to confront the distortions that affect the current economy. Celso Marranzini, and Andres Dauhajre, presidents of the Consejo Nacional de la Empresa Privada (CONEP) and of the Union Nacional de Empresarios want to form a leader summit to come up with a pact to confront the problems of the economy. Marranzini advocates that urgent measures be taken soon to assure that petroleum prices to the consumer are adjusted according to the interest rate changes in the United States. He feels that if measures are not taken soon, that the country could experience an inflationary crisis similar to that of 1984 or 1989.
