Improved service promised for Las Americas

Las Americas International Airport will be a totally different airport in 60 days, says Alex Santana, director of Aerodom, the company that has the contract to run the nation’s most important airport. Santana says that the company already has invested US$15 million in repairs. Both travelers and the airline companies operating from the airport will soon see considerable improvements in service. Among improvements are installation of multi-use airline counters. This will enable airlines that do not need their counters 24 hours a day to share these with other companies, thus making more efficient the airport operation. Santana says that they have as priority the speeding up of the time it takes for a passenger to receive downloaded luggage. This service is still handled by an American Airlines affiliate whose contract expires this year.(15 June 2000)
