Bureaucracy delays approval of new power units

El Siglo newspaper reports that the delays in Congress passing the General Electricity Bill has left the country without an agile mechanism to approve power generation projects. Internal interests within the Senate have impeded the approval of the bill. The new bill establishes that the projects only need presidential approval. The ruling that is in place in absence of the bill requires several cumbersome and bureaucratic steps. Projects on the table are: Palamara, 102.megawatts La Vega, 39 megawatts AES Andres, Boca Chica, 300 megawatts Energycorp Caribbean, 253 megawatts Monte Rio, Azua, 550 megawatts
