President-elect Mejía on European tour

El Siglo newspaper reports that President-elect Hipólito Mejía made a first stop in Paris, France as part of a European tour that will take him also to Belgium, Norway, Italy, Portugal and Spain. In Europe, he will meet with political leaders of the International Socialist movement and with persons interested in doing business in the DR. In Paris, he met with Prime Minister Lionel Jospin for lunch yesterday. He attended mass at the Germain de Prez church and toured the Notre Dame Cathedral. He also visited the Café Auxdeaux Magots, for coffee. In the evening, he participated in a dinner in his honor offered by the rector of the Center for Strategic Studies of Paris. In Paris, he is accompanied by Miguel Vargas Maldonado, Fabio Ruiz, Hugo Tolentino Dipp (next Minister of Foreign Relations), Manuel Caceres Troncoso (next director of Lomé affairs), General Jose Miguel Soto Jiménez (next Minister of the Armed Forces).
