Large Santiago hospital under construction

A major private hospital is going up in Santiago, the second largest city in the country. The hospital is slated to be the most modern medical center in the Dominican Republic. It is being promoted as an alternative to having to go abroad for advanced medical care. Several Dominican physicians that work in the US are expected to return to open offices there. The Hospital Metropolitano de Santiago will feature a 13-floor professional tower with 300 beds in private and semi-private rooms, a staff of 2,000 persons, 200 medical offices and parking space for 700 vehicles, It is going up at an estimated investment of RD$400 million at Km. 5 of the Autopista Santiago-La Vega in the Urbanización Monte Verde.
