High salaries in the electricity sector

Ignacio Alarcón, the general manager of the Organismo Coordinador del Sistema Electrico Interconectado, the organization that is supposed to coordinate players in the electricity sector, has one of the highest salaries in the DR. Radhamés Segura confirmed in Hoy newspaper that Alarcón makes RD$270,000 a month, a salary that is three times that of the President of the Republic. Of this amount, the Dominican state pays 50%. Other officers of the organization are also very well paid. For instance, the operation and commercial managers make RD$160,716 a month, double that of the Vice President of the Republic. Other salaries are RD$75,980 for the administrative manager, RD$46,574 for the legal counsel and RD$20,000 for the executive secretary.
