Engineers protest at National Palace

Some 203 engineers and government work contractors took over the reception building at the National Palace yesterday at 8 am. They sat in the hall and said they would not leave until the government ensured the payment of RD$317 million owed to them. Spokesman for the group, engineer Amable Montás said that debts range from RD$10,000 to RD$4 million for works carried out. Around 9 pm, two special assistants of President Fernández, Manuel Crispín and Danilo Díaz promised them a 9 am appointment with President Fernández to discuss the debt.
