The Dominican Republic basketball team won the gold medal in the Torneo Centro Basket held in Panama. The DR won the right to play in the Panamerican Tournament that starts in Brazil on 17 July. The three top placing teams in that event will go on to play in the World Basketball Tournament scheduled for 11-22 August in Tokyo. In Brazil, the DR men’s basketball team will match some of the best basketball players from Argentina, Brazil, Dominicana, Venezuela, Panama, Puerto Rico, Canada and the US.
