According to an item in the Listín Diario, the Transit Law 114-99 that recently went into effect establishes it is now mandatory to wear seat belts. The law also prohibits the transporting of minors under eight years old in the front seat of a car. Furthermore, it bans the transit of cars that have the steering wheel on the right side, as in England or Tokyo.
