French children's choir in benefit for Higuey Basilica

The Embassy of France, the Alliance Francais of Santo Domingo and the Patronato Pro-conservacion de la Basilica Menor de Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia in Higuey are behind the presentation of the "Les petits chanteurs d’Adiran" from France. Raymond Alexandre de Smedt-Cornil directs the choral group. Twenty children make up the group. The benefit, scheduled for Wednesday, 19 July at 8 pm at the Casa San Pablo Auditorium in Santo Domingo, will help gather funding to complete works that are necessary for the Higuey cathedral. The Cathedral was inaugurated in 1971, but was not completed. The Patronato now wants to build the public bathrooms, parking facilities, gardens, sacristy, museum, lodging for nuns and priests, cafeteria, administration building, and handicraft plaza. Tickets are for sale at the Alliance Francais in Santo Domingo for RD$500 each. The Alliance is open from 8 to 8 pm Monday to Thursday and on Fridays, through 6 pm.
