Listin Diario reported that President-elect Hipólito Mejía supports the celebration of the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo in 2003, but favors the restructuring of the Games’ Organizing Committee. The Listin Diario says it is most likely the new government will replace today Minister of Public Works Diandino Peña, as executive director; Danilo Aquino, as director general and Nelly Manuel Doñe, as technical director. Names being mentioned to hold key positions in the committee are Joselín Rodríguez Conde, who would replace Diandino Peña; Bienvenido Solano, as director general. Others are Rafael Duquela Morales and Rafael Heredia Abreu.
