The Smith-Enron power plant warned the government it will shut down if the government does not make at least an emergency payment of US$7 million by 15 July. The Puerto Plata power plant company, Smith Enron Cogeneration Limited Partnership gave the government a 10 day payment ultimatum. The power plant has capacity to generate up to 170 megawatts.
