Summer course studies registration at the Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo was boycotted yesterday by a small group of students who oppose the increase in the cost of credits. The university raised the cost of credits from RD$15 to RD$40 in order to make up for a financial deficit. News reports say that when students went to pay, they were impeded to do so by a group of 30-40 opposing students. The authorities say they will find away around the opposition so that the majority of the students that want to receive the courses can continue with their studies. The UASD has an enrollment of more than 90,000 students.
