The IVth Ecotourism and Production Fair continues through 23 July in Hato Nuevo, Manoguayabo, in the National District. The area centers production of cattle raising, citrics, tropical plants amidst large extensions of planted sugar cane. In the area, remains of Taino civilizations have been found. Jose Serulle of the Fundación Ciencia y Arte organizes the annual event. This year it focuses on the rescuing of the rivers and environmental improvement. The fair will be open from 9 am to 10 pm. Hato Nuevo is 40 minutes from the center of Santo Domingo. (21 July 2000)
