Congress passed the creation of the Consejo Dominicano del Café (Codocafe) and the Consejo de Administración y Regulación de Taxis (CART). Codocafe will be an autonomous organization made up by both government and private sector members. Board members will come from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Dominican Agrarian Institute, the Agriculture Bank (Banco Agrícola), the Forestry Department and representatives of incorporated coffee organizations, small farmer associations, organic coffee organizations, and exporters. The Consejo de Administracion y Regulacion de Taxis (CART) will regulate the operation of taxis in the DR. Its board members will come from the Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of tourism, the Metropolitan Transport Authority (AMET), the Office for Ground Transport (OTT), and taxi driver representatives. This board will issue licenses for the operation of taxis, will define routes, rates and other matters. The ruling of the board should be ready in three months time.
