This year’s catch was outstanding in the Baninter Fishing Tournament held in Cabeza de Toro, on the eastern coast. Dominican Carlos Yuri Olivero caught a 524 lb. blue marlin to win the event, a RD$150,000 in cash and a gold Rolex watch. Dominican Rafaelito Mendez won second place with a 441 lb. marlin. He won RD$75,000 in prize money and a gold Rolex watch. Another Dominican, Armando D’Alessandro, came in third capturing a 347 lb. blue marlin. His prize was a Rolex watch.
