The Dominican Republic basketball team defeated Brazil in the finals of the Las Americas Basketball Cup Sub-21 and won the right to play in the World Basketball Games in Tokyo, Japan. The DR defeated Brazil 76-71. Other classifying teams from the Americas are Argentina and the United States.
