Minister of Tourism Felix Jimenez announced that at the end of his term on 16 August he will return to his career as a real estate developer. Jiménez was a successful real estate salesman prior to taking the post in 1996. He announced his next project will be Pueblo Bavaro, to be located in Veron, near Higuey and Punta Cana and Bavaro beaches. He expects this city to grow to a population of 50,000-70,000 inhabitants in ten years time. The plan is to provide housing for the thousands of Dominicans that are today employed in East Coast hotels. (28 July 2000)
