President-elect Hipólito Mejía announced yesterday the appointment of Leonardo Matos Berrido as new ambassador in Italy. The president of the Dominican League of Baseball told Listín Diario, that he would decide at the end of the year what to do. "That appointment is subject to lots of requirements," he said. President-elect Hipólito Mejía recently announced he would incorporate Partido Reformista Social Cristiano men into his government. Of those holding top government positions in earlier Joaquin Balaguer administrations, he has appointed Angel Lockward (Minister of Industry and Commerce), Fernando Alvarez Bogaert (Minister of Finance) and now Matos Berrido. Matos Berrido was ambassador in Taiwan in a Balaguer administration. At the time, he held both that ambassadorial position and the presidency of the Dominican Baseball League.
