El Siglo points out that nine mega-projects under construction by the outgoing government will remain to be completed by the incoming authorities. These are the Aeropuerto Internacional La Isabela, built in El Higuero en Villa Mella, north of Santo Domingo. The airport would replace the Herrera International Airport once in operation. The access road that link the airport to President Jacobo Majluta Avenue (also pending repair) is yet to be completed while the airport is said to be 70% completed. The main users of the Herrera terminal oppose their relocation to the out-of-town Isabela airport. Whether it will replace Herrera in the near future is yet to be seen. It is important to note, though, that the centrally located Herrera airfield location has been negotiated with powerful economic groups. Also the overpass over Luperón, 30 de Mayo and Km. 12 Haina avenues is said to be 70% completed. The new library at the state university, UASD.
