President Hipólito Mejía confirmed Police Chief Major General Pedro de Jesus Candelier Tejada in the post. President Mejía visited the National Police headquarter yesterday to meet with the head of the Police force. During the visit, he thanked Candelier for the respectful and objective attitude of the force during the past presidential campaign. Candelier was appointed to the post on 27 February 1999 after being transferred from the Army. Candelier expressed his commitment to advance on the reform of the police.
