Reducing the effect of natural disasters in slum areas

The Instituto Dominicano de Desarrollo Integral (IDDI), a non-governmental organization, signed an agreement with USAID to help improve the quality of life of residents in Santo Domingo slum areas. The project seeks to improve the living conditions of residents in the slum areas of El Hoyo de la Zurza, Capotillo and Los Manguitos, so they can be better prepared for natural disasters. Residents in these areas will actively participate in the development of the project. The USAID will be providing RD$8 million for the project that will last 11 months.
