Arthur Valdez appointed Pan Am Games Commissioner

Arthur Valdez, formerly executive vice president of the American Chamber of Commerce, was promoted to the post of Commissioner for the Pan American Santo Domingo 2003 Games. As Commissioner he has been given the responsibility to supervise the marketing, technology and television negotiations of the leading sports event in the Americas. Valdez has been a member of the Organizing Committee since its start. Born in 1934 Santa Fé, New Mexico (USA), he has been living in the DR for the past 33 years. Valdez studied political sciences at the University of New Mexico, and postgraduate studies at the University of Georgetown, Washington, D.C. From 1962-1975 he worked with the USAID. Later, he joined Falconbridge Dominicana and the Instituto Dominicano de Estudios Aplicados. In 1989 he joined the American Chamber of Commerce, remaining until 1999.
