President Hipolito Mejia is scheduled to speak at the Millennium Summit in the United Nations in New York City on the afternoon of 6 September. "We are going to discuss neoliberalism, the need to feed our populations, the problem of our neighboring country, the Latin American crisis, the little attention received from some organizations, the great problem of poverty," said Mejía when asked about the contents of his speech at the UN. Afterwards, he will be in San José, Costa Rica to participate in a Central American summit with Mexican President-elect Vicente Fox. That meeting is set for 12 September. There he will meet the heads of state of Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Panama, in addition to his host from Costa Rica and Vicente Fox. The new alliance promoted by the President of Costa Rica is to be known as MesoAmerica. The Miami Herald is also announcing the participation of President Mejía in the 14-15 September Conference sponsored by the newspaper to be held in Miami.
