Political parties spend RD$332.9 million in past campaign

According to documents presented by the three leading political parties, these spent RD$332.9 million to promote their candidates during the past presidential campaign. The party that spent the most was the ruling Partido de la Liberación Dominicana (PLD), with RD$143.4 million. Then the Partido Reformista Social Cristiano (PRSC) with RD$99.6 million, and then the winning Partido Revolucionario Dominicano (PRD), with RD$89.9 million. The Junta Central Electoral, the government body in charge of organizing the presidential, congressional and municipal elections in the DR, channeled state funds covering 54.4% of the abovementioned party’s expenses.
