President appointed Pedro Antonio Peralta González director of the Corporación de Fomento de la Industria Hotelera y Desarrollo del Turismo (Corphotel), the government institution in charge of state-owned hotels. President Mejía also appointed Magaly Josefina Gonell Villanueva as the new director of the Tourism office in Montreal, Canada. Hector Antonio Lizardo Jorge was appointed chief of the Tourism Police force (Politur). (1 September 2000)
