Dominican Hideyoshi Tateyama became the star of the World Cup and Shito Ryu Karate Juvenile Competition held at the Olympic Center in Tokyo. Tateyama won a gold and silver medal in Kata and Kumite. He studies at the Dojo Tony Rivera in the Body Shop building in Santo Domingo. Professor Masayasu Kametani of the school was very proud of his pupil. Other outstanding performers were Dominican Jose Eneas Núñez who won silver in Kata and bronze in Kumite. Pedro García and Ricardo Tizón won bronze in Kumite.
