El Siglo newspaper reports that the Navy began dredging the Ozama and Isabela rivers, in the area of the Port of Santo Domingo. The dredging is part of an effort to attract cruise ships to Santo Domingo. The dredging should bring the depth of the river near the port docks to 36 feet. (4 September 2000)
