Francisco Alvarez, coordinator of the Participación Ciudadana civic movement, criticized the firing of skilled government employees and said this is affecting government activities. He said that the government of Mejía is acting more with authoritarianism than with authority by making decisions removed from what the Constitution and laws establish. He said authority is power exercised within the parameters of the laws and Constitution; while authoritarianism are decisions taken by one person, not necessarily within a state of law. He said examples of the authoritarianism are the firings of public workers, regardless of what is established in the Law of Civil Service and Administrative Career. He said that law was passed to precisely avoid what is happening today. He defended Mu Kien Sang Ben, saying that the she had spoken because the President, who has good intentions, is still in time to rectify his actions. Alvarez criticized that District Attorney Máximo Aristy Caraballo had made light of the fraudulent document that listed the names of four lawyers as assistant district attorneys. Aristy Caraballo said it all had been "a joke." Alvarez said the case should have been sent to justice. Furthermore, Alvarez rejected that President Mejía had unilaterally given instructions to the Attorney General of the nation for the state to revoke charges against former President Salvador Jorge Blanco for corruption in office. He said that the case that is in the Court of Appeals should have been left up to justice.
