Government drug control forces confiscated a third cargo of drugs in less than three days yesterday. The 17 kilos of pure cocaine would have been shipped to Rome on board a charter flight leaving from Punta Cana International Airport. Major General Manuel Antonio Lachapelle Suero, director of the Department of Drug Control (DCND) said that the cocaine was camouflaged in several suitcases. Nevertheless, trained personnel detected the cargo when it was being passed through the X Ray machines of the airport. The authorities said the owner of the drugs is Italian Racci Rocco Calotero, a resident in Santiago, who fled. He was to board Eurofly flight 2309 and was accompanied by Dominican Daysi Galvan, who was arrested. Previously the authorities had arrested four Colombians and a Dominican for a cargo of 130 capsules of heroine, weighing one kilo, also at Punta Cana airport.
