Dead supposed assailant had criminal record

El Siglo newspaper reports that Wilson Manuel Rodriguez Jimenez, the supposed assailant who died at gun shot by victim Octavio Beras, had been arrested by the Police only three days before the tragedy. He was arrested and sent to justice for disarming a police agent, on one occasion, and supposedly stealing jewelry from a woman, on another, but was released for lack of proof. The Police say that Rodríguez, alias El Mago, was a well-known delinquent who lived in the Capotillo neighborhood. The murder of business manager Octavio Beras has made front-page headlines, as he was the son and nephew of two well-known TV producers, Tutín and Freddy Beras Goico. He was shot at after being trailed from a bank from where he had taken out a large amount of cash to pay his daughter’s school registration. The Police says they are on the trail of Rodríguez’s fellow assailant, as they suspect he was the person who accompanied Rodríguez when he was last arrested.
