The Ministry of Culture announced the appointment of Dr. German Camarena and Oscar Hungría, respectively, as directors of the Casa de la Cultura and the Patrimonio Cultural office in Puerto Plata. Deputy Minister of Culture, Architect Gamal Michelen was in Puerto Plata to swear in the new officers. He announced the government has plans to reopen the Centro Artesanal, a handicraft center, that has been closed for the past eight years. (6 September 2000)
