Top-level commission to resolve garbage problem

The conflicting interests revolving around the garbage collecting business in Santo Domingo have gotten to such a point that President Hipólito Mejía appointed a commission head by the Minister of the Armed Forces. Minister of the Armed Forces Lieutenant Jose Miguel Soto Jiménez joins Secretary of the Presidency Sergio Grullón (brother in law of the President), legal consultant Guido Gómez Mazara, Santo Domingo Mayor Juan de Dios Ventura and Police Chief Pedro de Jesús Candelier on the commission. The conflict of interests has the Proaseo, S.A. matching horns with Colimec. Colimec has the support of the Dominican Municipal League (that channels most of the budget assigned to the municipality) and Proaseo, S.A. has the support of the municipality.
