Minister of Tourism Ramon Bordas reaffirmed that Carnival Cruise Lines is considering building a dock in the Puerto Plata area known as Punta Fortaleza. The dock would cost US$50 million. Other cruise lines could use the dock. Minister Bordas would like Puerto Plata again to be included in the North Caribbean routes of the leading cruise lines that operate in the area.
