Decree 744-00 establishes a 15% reduction of the salary of the President of the Republic. President Hipólito Mejía will be paid RD$82,500, down from RD$90,000 past President Leonel Fernández received. The Vice President will get a 12% salary cut, and will make RD$62,500. Cabinet ministers will make 10% less (RD$45,000 down from RD$50,000), and deputy ministers 8% less. Government officers making RD$45,000 and RD$35,000 will receive checks with 6% discounts. Those making RD$35,000 and RD$25,000 will get 5% less.
