Former Vice President Jacinto Peynado said he would consider running for Mayor of Santo Domingo in the 2002 municipal election. He said friends suggested this, and when he asked former President Joaquín Balaguer, leader of the PRSC party, for his opinion, the latter gave him green light. Peynado, commenting on the matter on Revista 110 TV program, said he would think about this possibility.
