The Navy arrested ten persons, including four from Ecuador, that attempted to clandestinely make it to Puerto Rico. Unfortunately for them, the organizers of the trip swindled them. The group landed at Cabeza de Toro, in the conviction they had arrived to Puerto Rico. The group had left from San Pedro de Macorís on a 21 foot boat. They said they each paid US$3,000 to organizers in Ecuador for the arrangements. The Navy said they would be deported to Ecuador.
