President Hipólito Mejía says he is against government officers holding two jobs in government. Several aldermen, congressmen, and mayors want to continue receiving two paychecks. He instructed Administrative Secretary of the Presidency, Franco Badía to look into the matter. El Siglo newspaper says that as of 15 September, only four of 19 PRD aldermen in the Santo Domingo City Hall had received their municipal posts after accepting other jobs in government.
