Seven shipwrecked fishermen of 38 fishermen that left Port of Manzanilla were said to be on Isla Tortuga of Haiti. The shipwrecked sailors swam there after their ship sunk during a storm off Montecristi province in the Northwest. They were on board the 45 foot Cristal ship. The US Coast Guard joined rescue efforts in place by the Dominican Navy and the Air Force.
