Dominican Week began yesterday in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The weeklong annual program of events is held in Puerto Rico and several US cities to promote an awareness of the positive aspects of Dominican society. Academic, cultural, business and political aspects are promoted. Highlights of this year are the presentations by Vice President Milagros Ortiz Bosch in New York City and then past President Leonel Fernandez in South Orange, New Jersey. Academic exchanges will be held at the University of Puerto Rico, Seton Hall University, the City University of New York and Parson’s School of Design. A Fernando Ureña Rib art exhibition, as well as another by Dominican designers and an antique maps exhibition is on the program. Jose Antonio Molina will conduct a concert at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Business meetings are planned with the Bankers Club of Puerto Rico, at the World Trade Center in Miami, in Dallas and at the US Chamber of Commerce, Export-Import Bank and World Bank in Washington D.C. and the Council of the Americas in New York.
